With reference to my previous letters of the

25th ultimo and the 3rd instaut, I have the honour

to forward to you herewith a third shipment of

1,000 Japanese hand carts and gear, as per invoice

and Bill of Lading, per chartered Japanese steamer

"Hideyoshi Maru", due at Tongku on or about the

18th instant.

As you will observe, 500 of these carts are

new type, with small wheels closer together

under the body of the car. These are designed

for narrow roads and have been specially constructed

to my order by the Owari Carriage and Waggon Manu-

facturing Company.

The other 500 are of the same

type and made by the same makers as the second

thousand previousby forwarded; but they are a still

superior article and they embody some improvements
